Our1886 traditional "shotgun style" home (which has been featured in tv and film) has the charm of historic New Orleans, with the touches that come from our family being professional world travelers.
We've set our home up for you to enjoy the best in New Orleans in a stylish and relaxing space. THE SPACE IS VERY LARGE! The front room is TWO rooms that have been opened up into a huge double room suite with cathedral ceilings!
The second bedroom is also large and has 14 ft high ceilings, so the space is much larger and more open than people anticipate. Our home is great for folks who want to experience the charm of a true New Orleans home and neighborhood, but with the feel of a boutique hotel. We're the perfect space for long weekends or even a week-long visit. We'll stock the snacks and drinks to suit! :)
Nestled just a 5-minute walk from the ferry (which drops you in The French Quarter in 3 minutes flat) on one of Algiers Point's most desirable streets, you'll be relaxing on the front porch less than 2 min from the levee! Enjoy the sounds of the riverboats as they pass by, walk along the famous Mississippi and get the best view of New Orleans, and soak up the charming historical tree-lined streets and houses with local restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance.
Our house is stylishly decorated, but functional for travelers. We want you to feel at home in our home. Algiers Point is a historically registered neighborhood making it uniquely special. The neighborhood is used regularly for film and television because it is historically protected and therefore looks like the New Orleans you see in films and TV. Historical homes on tree-lined streets with a deep history in one of the safest and most kid-friendly neighborhoods in the city. It's a true gem.
You will have private entry via the front door. You will have two LARGE rooms (space size of 3) and your own private full bathroom! We have a second unit in the back of the property that is tenant occupied, however, you won't come in contact with anyone while you're here, the two rooms and full bathroom are completely private to you!
Please note what "traditional shotgun style" means, it means, the houses of this era and style were built in a Victorian style where you walk through the rooms to get to the next, and you could stand at the front door and a "shotgun bullet" would travel straight through from front to back. Our home has not been modified from that style, like others have, so please consider if this is the right style for you.
We offer a king-size bed and a twin trundle set, a lounge area w/smart TV in our stylish cathedral ceiling "Grand Parlor". Our Second Bedroom offers a Queen bed, another stylish lounge area, and a full bathroom w/tub and shower. You will have, wifi, a TV, room for clothing storage, and brand new A/C and heating!
We provide a coffee maker w/tea and coffee as well as a microwave, fridge, free cold drinks and snacks, and light utensils and dishes. The house is set up for you to enjoy the restaurants of New Orleans, because who comes to NOLA to cook for themselves ;), but we provide the microwave and fridge for extra meal options in a pinch!
Enjoy the best views, great food, relaxing and beautiful environment in Algiers Point, and the neighbors who make you feel at home here. Wave to the neighbors from your seats on the porch and take in the sunrise or enjoy the most beautiful sunset views on the levee 2 blocks from the door.
AGE LIMIT - our general age limit for kids is usually 12yrs or older, as some of the house isn't suitable for the little ones. If you have a specific request, please feel free to reach out, we try to accommodate families, but also, our owner and our Property Managers are Moms who are looking out for other parents and their little ones. :) No one under the age of 21 may rent the property.
This house is our home, we live here when we don't have guests, please be respectful of our home and leave it how you found it in a nice condition. NO PARTIES or additional people who are not included in your reservation are not permitted inside.
We don't expect beds to be made, but you will need to take out any food trash to the street bin when you check out.
Our main rules are no smoking, no parties, and to be respectful of noise levels, usually 10pm on weekdays and 11pm on weekends for outside noises and music. We want you to have fun and enjoy everything about New Orleans. Sit on the front porch, experience true Southern Charm like no place else in the world!
We'll provide you w/our favorite recommendations for food, entertainment, tours, experiences, etc. We'll be available to you, as will our Property Managers for any help you might need.
Parking is street parking, there are no permits required. The driveway is used for the back tenant and on occasion our next door neighbor who is handicapped, so that our guests have space on the street to park. It's a very safe neighborhood, however please make sure you lock your doors, and don't leave any belongings in your car. We highly recommend only use your car when absolutely necessary.
For groups you will be charged $50.00 per guest per night, listed in "additional fee"s. Our Max Occupancy is 6 adults.
We check-in people in person so we can make sure we have everything set-up as needed and the guests are well versed on what they need to know about the property.
PLEASE NOTE - We do not allow any consumption of crawfish or shellfish INSIDE the home. NOLA locals don't have crawfish boils or shrimp boils INSIDE our homes, we eat them outside or at restaurants, because the smell is overwhelming and can go bad very quickly, it's very messy (oil and peppery spices) and can ruin furniture. This is why you never see a crawfish boil or a shrimp or crab boil done inside a home, its always done outside. We are also very conscious of those with severe shellfish allergies and it's very hard to get that smell out of the house. Additionally, we hire a local small business cleaning service that has a staff member w/severe shellfish allergy. Post Hurricane Ida our trash pick-up is only on Tuesdays now (not Tues and Fri) and nothing is worse than old shellfish trash and smell...seriously. If you want recommendations for great spots to enjoy a boil, we've got em!
